Human rights promotion often focuses on awareness campaigns and training sessions. While these are important, many communities continue to face unresolved challenges that require practical intervention.
Helping Hands Ceylon proposes a community-based initiative that combines human rights education with direct action, advocacy, documentation, and support for vulnerable individuals and families.
To strengthen human rights protection and community participation by supporting vulnerable groups to access information, services, justice mechanisms, and livelihood opportunities.
Identify rural schools facing significant educational barriers.
Conduct school accessibility assessments.
Provide educational support packages for vulnerable students.
Create student-led Human Rights Clubs.
Organize annual youth forums where students discuss issues affecting their communities.
Increased student participation.
Greater awareness of children’s rights.
Improved access to educational resources in underserved communities.
Identify women-headed households facing economic hardship.
Provide entrepreneurship and financial literacy training.
Establish small community business groups.
Connect women with local markets and business mentors.
Create a Women’s Rights and Economic Empowerment Network.
Improved household income.
Increased economic independence.
Stronger participation of women in community decision-making.
Rather than relying only on workshops, HHC will establish volunteer action teams consisting of youth leaders, teachers, social workers, and community representatives.
