Emotional Freedom Technique, often called EFT Tapping, is a simple self-help method that helps calm emotional stress and restore balance within the body. It is based on the idea that our thoughts and feelings are connected to the body’s energy flow. When this flow is disturbed by worry, fear, or past experiences, we may feel anxious, tense, or emotionally blocked.
EFT involves gently tapping with your fingertips on certain points of the face and upper body while focusing on what you feel. These points are linked to the body’s natural energy system, much like those used in acupuncture. The gentle tapping sends signals to the brain that help reduce the intensity of emotional reactions. Over time, it allows the mind to release tension and think more clearly.
Anyone can practice EFT. Begin by identifying what is bothering you—perhaps a thought, memory, or emotion. As you tap on each point, repeat simple phrases such as “Even though I feel this way, I choose to be calm and at peace.” Continue tapping and breathing slowly until you notice a sense of relief or lightness.
EFT is not a cure for everything, but it can be a practical tool for managing daily stress, improving focus, and nurturing emotional health. It can be practiced anywhere-at work, at home, or during quiet moments of reflection.
At Helping Hands Ceylon, we encourage everyone to explore methods that strengthen mental and emotional resilience. The EFT Tapping System is one of those simple yet meaningful ways to care for yourself, one tap at a time.
